On 28 June 2025, the ninth session of the seventh convocation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took place. Deputies considered a number of important bills aimed at implementing the state policy of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and modernising the country's legislation. This was reported by the IIC.

The key issue on the agenda was the approval of the new version of the ‘Civil Code of Turkmenistan’. The updated document establishes the legal basis for charitable activities, which is in line with the state's humanitarian policy.

The parliament also unanimously adopted the Law ‘On the Unified State Register of Voters,’ which will come into force on 1 January 2026. The new law, consisting of six chapters and 34 articles, aims to digitise electoral processes and improve the voter registration system. In addition, amendments to the legislation on the activities of internal affairs bodies and customs services were considered. The adopted documents are intended to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country and strengthen the legal system of Turkmenistan.
