A meeting dedicated to the 34th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence was held in Ashgabat at the ‘Maslahat köşgi’ Palace, chaired by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The event was attended by members of the Cabinet of Ministers, deputies, heads of ministries and public organisations, regional governors, honourable elders and young people.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted the country's achievements during the years of independence, the strengthening of sovereignty and neutrality, the importance of spiritual and cultural values, the cultivation of patriotism and hard work among young people, as well as the role of science, education and family in shaping the future generation. Particular attention was paid to the preservation of Turkmenistan's cultural heritage and successful cooperation with UNESCO.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the dynamic development of the economy: GDP growth in 2025 was 6.3%, industry, agriculture and transport are being modernised, export potential is expanding, new medical and educational complexes are being built, climate projects are being implemented, and the digital economy and entrepreneurship are developing.

On the international stage, Turkmenistan is strengthening its status as a neutral state. The Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries was held in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone, and the Awaza Programme of Action for 2024-2034 was adopted.

Following the meeting, resolutions were signed on the creation of new etraps and the construction of a urea complex in the Balkan velayat. The meeting concluded with the awarding of honourable elders and mothers for their contribution to the education of young people and the strengthening of spiritual values.

The Halk Maslahaty confirmed its role as a key public-state institution that unites the people around the strategic initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan and Hero Arkadag aimed at further strengthening the independence and prosperity of the country.
