On 3 July, the draw for the group stage of the «CAFA Nations Cup-2025» football tournament took place. The Turkmenistan national team was placed in Group A alongside Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Oman. From 2 to 4 July, a seminar organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat. The event was part of a joint project on financial market development and institutional environment improvement. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. UNDP international expert Elena Andreeva presented to participants the key elements of the functioning of the securities market, from types of instruments to mechanisms for recording investor rights and the activities of depositories and registrars. The draft programme for the development of the securities market in Turkmenistan until 2030 and the plan for its implementation were also discussed. In addition to the training sessions, the expert held consultations with representatives of government agencies, presenting proposals for updating legislation and developing the country's financial system.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro on the occasion of Venezuela's Independence Day. On 4 July 2025, the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation was held in Khankendi under the slogan ‘New ECO Vision for a Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Future.’ The Turkmen delegation was headed by Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov, who in his speech stressed the importance of developing a new development strategy for the organisation until 2035. The first face-to-face module of the regional Training Programme on Digital Trade and Multimodal Transport took place in Tashkent, with the participation of representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan together with colleagues from other Central Asian countries. The event was organised as part of the project ‘Trade Facilitation in Central Asia’ with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. Participants in the programme studied in detail modern digital tools aimed at harmonising multimodal transport in the region. A key element of the training was a multimodal transport reference data model, which allows all modes of transport to be integrated into a single system and significantly simplifies cross-border information exchange. The knowledge and skills gained will enable Turkmen specialists to make a practical contribution to the development of efficient logistics corridors in Central Asia, which is in line with the strategic objectives for the digital transformation of foreign trade operations in Turkmenistan.
Important bilateral meetings of the Turkmen delegation took place on 4 July, within the framework of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). The Turkmenistan Pavilion at the EXPO 2025 World Exhibition in Osaka, created by the Turkmen company ‘Belli’, was highly praised by visitors and was among the three most impressive national exhibitions. The pavilion's architecture harmoniously combines the country's cultural heritage with modern technologies, emphasising its importance on the world stage. The three-storey building reveals different aspects of Turkmen identity. The first floor offers an immersive multimedia journey through the nature and history of Turkmenistan. The second floor showcases achievements in energy, industry, medicine and other fields, including an exhibition of medicinal plants. The third floor serves as a cultural centre with traditional carpets, embroidery, artefacts and a national restaurant serving organic dishes. There is also an open terrace with traditional gazebos. A delegation from Turkmenistan, including representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Academy of Sciences, local authorities and other institutions, paid a working visit to Uzbekistan. Schoolchildren from Turkmenistan won six medals at the 29th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (JBMO-2025), held in Struga (North Macedonia) from 24 to 29 June. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. All members of the Turkmenistan team returned home with awards: one gold, four silver and one bronze medal. The Olympiad brought together 135 participants from 23 countries.
