The Arkadag football team was honoured in Turkmenistan

The Akhan Monument became the centre of the celebration, where artists and musical groups of the country performed. The winners of the tournament arrived at the ceremony with the State Flag, Cup and awards, causing a lively response from the gathered residents and fans. The athletes marched along the avenues of the new city to the multi-purpose stadium. The festive events were accompanied by performances of athletes, national songs and dances. At the stadium the players were given bread and salt as a sign of respect for traditions. Head of the football club Arslanmurad Amanov thanked the country's leadership for attention to sport and said that the team will donate the prize money won at the tournament to ‘The Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship’ to help children in need of care. In their speeches, the athletes expressed their readiness to continue representing Turkmenistan honourably in the international arena. The celebration ended with a festive concert, fireworks and mass festivities.

UNICEF training for journalists takes place in Ashgabat

The training programme includes methods of creating quality content for children's audience, peculiarities of interviewing children and teenagers, principles of ethical representation of children in social advertising. Attention will be paid to the use of AI technologies to visualise children's content and the basics of storytelling when working with children's topics. The participants of the training will practise their knowledge during group exercises on creating media materials. The event was an important step in raising the professional standards of the Turkmen media's work with children's issues, which is in line with international principles of child rights protection.
Deals worth over $4.5 million were concluded at the SCRMET of Turkmenistan
12.05.2025Last week, 31 deals totalling over $4.5 million and 88 million manats were concluded on the platform of the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan. This is reported by the State News Agency ‘Turkmenistan Today’. Businessmen from the UAE, Turkey and Afghanistan bought oil products - road bitumen, lighting paraffin, base oil produced by Türkmennebit for foreign currency. Business representatives from Afghanistan also purchased sodium chloride and liquefied gas from "Türkmenhimiýa" and "Türkmengaz" SCs. Cotton yarn was exported to the UAE and Kyrgyzstan. In the domestic market, Turkmen businessmen purchased oil road bitumen and textile products (terry products, cotton yarn and fabric). The total amount of domestic transactions exceeded 88 million manats, which indicates consistent demand for the products of national enterprises both in the foreign and domestic markets.
Turkmenistan is expanding its representation in AFC club competitions
12.05.2025In the upcoming Asian Football Confederation club tournament season, Turkmenistan will set a record by fielding three teams - more than any other AFC member country. The country achieved such an opportunity thanks to Arkadag's triumph in the AFC Challenge League. This is reported by the IIC. The Ahal club is likely to start with the qualifying round of the second AFC Champions League, where its potential opponent could be Tajikistan's Regar-TadAZ. Other possible opponents include India's Goa and Oman's Al-Sib. At the same time, there is still a chance of direct entry into the group stage if some clubs do not receive an AFC licence. Altyn Asyr, the country's champion, has already secured a place in the group stage of the elite Champions League. Interestingly, the teams that failed to qualify for the second Champions League will have the right to play in the group stage of the Challenge League, which increases the chances of Turkmen clubs to continue playing in international tournaments.
Turkmenistan is strengthening its fight against transnational crime with the support of the EU
12.05.2025From 6-8 May, Turkmenistan hosted a specialised three-day workshop under the EU BOMCA 10 programme aimed at improving methods of investigating cross-border crimes using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT). The training was attended by officers from key agencies of the country, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of National Security, the State Frontier Service, the State Customs Service, the State Migration Service, as well as the Prosecutor General's Office. Lithuanian experts from the Border Guard and Customs Criminal Services shared best practices in the application of OSINT technologies in criminal investigations, talked about the analysis of digital tools for data processing and the study of cryptocurrency transactions and financial schemes of organised crime. Special attention was paid to modern technological solutions, including methods of collecting information via mobile devices and social networks, as well as detecting money laundering schemes using NFT. The event was held under the capacity building component of the BOMCA 10 programme for investigative agencies, which promotes the introduction of modern evidentiary methods of crime investigation in Turkmenistan.
Turkmen karatekas won 10 medals at the international tournament in Armenia
12.05.2025Ten athletes of Turkmenistan's national kyokushin karate team successfully performed at the X international tournament in Gyumri, Armenia, held on 10-11 May. Under the guidance of coach Atamyrat Khudaiberdiyev, the national team won 10 medals of various merits. This is reported by IIC of Turkmenistan. Turkmen karate fighters showed brilliant results, winning 3 gold medals, 4 silver and 3 bronze awards. The delegation of Turkmenistan included international category judges Tirkish Korov and Tachli Saparov, who ensured objective refereeing at the competitions. Turkmen weightlifters won 12 medals at the World Championship in Peru
12.05.2025At the World Weightlifting Championship among youth and juniors in Lima (Peru), the Turkmen national team showed an impressive result, winning 12 medals. The competition was attended by 531 athletes from 77 countries. This is reported by the online edition of "Turkmenistan: Golden age". Junior athlete Anamjan Rustamova (up to 87kg) brought gold honours to the country. Despite sixth place in the snatch (108kg), she took revenge in the jerk (141kg) and climbed to the top step of the podium with a total of 249kg. This is a serious progress for the athlete, who a year ago in Spain was satisfied with only bronze. Kakamyrat Annamyradov (under 73kg) took 1 bronze and 2 silvers; Didarbek Jumabayev (under 81kg) took 3 silvers; and Islam Akmyradov (under 96kg) took 1 bronze and 2 silvers. 15-year-old Ogulshat Amanova added a bronze medal in the 101kg javelin, continuing her streak of success at the World Championships. An unusual performance RITUALS took place in Ashgabat

The event, organised with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and European partners, gathered a full hall of spectators. This was reported by IIC. The evening began with the performance of the Akdjayar ensemble from the Balkan velayat, which presented the Kushtdepdi dance, recognised by UNESCO as part of the world cultural heritage. The performance featured both Turkmen ensembles and European choreographers, including Italy's Margherita Bergamo. The State Dance Ensemble of Turkmenistan and the Mengli group presented numbers where traditional movements were organically combined with elements of contemporary dance. Multimedia accompaniment - light projections and digital effects - turned the stage into a dynamic artistic space where every gesture of the artists was visually continued. This international project, implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and European partners, clearly showed that art remains a universal language capable of uniting different cultures and epochs.
Two players from 'Arkadag' won awards following the final match of the AFC Challenge League
11.05.2025At the end of the final match of the AFC Challenge League, two players of the Turkmen club Arkadag were honoured with awards, having played a key role in the club's victory. This is reported by Turkmenportal news website. According to the source, Altymyrat Annadurdyyev was the author of the winning goal scored in the 112th minute of extra time. This goal not only brought the club a trophy, but also made the forward the top scorer of the tournament with five goals. Shanazar Tirkishov was recognised as the most valuable player of the final. His game had a determining influence on the success of the Turkmen team.
