Turkmenistan and Vietnam expand cooperation in engineering education

From 10 to 12 October, in Ashgabat, as part of the International Exhibition and Conference ‘Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Renaissance Era of a New Epoch of a Powerful State,’ a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Vietnam). President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Husnullin, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The Russian Deputy Prime Minister conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Prime Minister Mihail Mishustin, noting the high level of strategic partnership between the two countries and Turkmenistan's impressive achievements in socio-economic development. The parties discussed the implementation of joint projects and new areas of cooperation, and signed a number of documents, including the Protocol of the meeting and agreements on cooperation in education, agriculture, horse breeding, stock exchange and customs. The National Pavilion of Turkmenistan was among the three most popular exhibits at the exhibition. Under the theme ‘Inspiring a Better Tomorrow,’ it presented the country's cultural heritage, traditions and modern achievements, including the Arkadag ‘smart’ city project. Over 2 million people visited the pavilion during the exhibition. EXPO 2025 was held from 13 April to 13 October on Yumeshima Island, attracting around 28 million visitors from all over the world.

Scientific research in the field of human physiology in Turkmenistan is reaching new heights and has already gained recognition from the global scientific community. This was stated at the conference ‘Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Renaissance Era of a New Epoch of a Powerful State’ by Professor Hanns-Christian Gunga, Head of the Center for Space Medicine and Extreme Environments at Charité – University Medicine Berlin, according to the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The scientist devoted his speech to the impact of climate change on human health. According to him, particularly noticeable transformations are taking place in Central Asia, where rising air temperatures are becoming a serious challenge to the physiological capabilities of the body. Overheating can cause ‘heat stress’ and disrupt a person's internal balance. The professor recalled that last year, specialists from the Berlin Centre held courses in Ashgabat on human physiology in extreme environments. Turkmen doctors, teachers and students familiarised themselves with modern research and developments, after which they presented their own projects and practical solutions for combating heat stress. These achievements were highly praised by international experts. Gunga also noted that the opening of the International Scientific and Clinical Centre for Physiology in Ashgabat and the use of modern technologies will raise Turkmen physiological science to a new level. He expressed his readiness for further cooperation and gratitude to the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan for organising the conference.


Ashgabat and Moscow signed a protocol of understanding on digital transformation

A Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko visited Turkmenistan for negotiations on the digitalisation of the economy and the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, according to the online news resource TerraNews. During the three-day visit, Grigorenko met with Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakyev to discuss joint IT projects, the development of communications infrastructure, information security, and the participation of Russian companies in the creation of data centres. Particular attention was paid to the training of specialists and academic exchange: Grigorenko spoke to students at the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics and gave a press conference. 13 Turkmen universities entered the prestigious world ranking

Thirteen Turkmen universities have been included in the new, 22nd edition of ‘THE World University Rankings 2026’, receiving ‘reporter’ status. According to data from the British organisation Times Higher Education (THE), the list includes the country's leading educational institutions, including the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Magtymguly Turkmen State University and a number of other universities. The ‘THE World University Rankings’, published since 2004, are considered one of the most authoritative indicators of university success. The assessment is based on 18 criteria covering teaching, research, research quality, industry engagement and international cooperation. The current edition of the ranking features 2,191 universities from 115 countries, highlighting growing international participation. The presence of Turkmen universities on this list strengthens their prestige and demonstrates the progress of the national higher education system.

Uzbek companies plan to expand exports of medical equipment to Turkmenistan

Our company produces paediatric medicines, minerals and vitamins, as well as gynaecological and urological products. We have more than 40 medicines registered in the Customs Union. We came to study the market, establish contacts with distributors and pharmacy chains, and offer contract manufacturing to our Turkmen colleagues. We are confident that joint projects will be mutually beneficial,’ said Diyorbek Rustambekov, manager of ‘BP Pharma Healthcare’. A large-scale modernisation of the healthcare system is underway in Turkmenistan. Examples of new facilities include the 400-bed International Health and Rehabilitation Centre in Ashgabat, the International Scientific and Clinical Centre for Physiology with 250 beds, a glycyrrhizic acid production facility in Turkmenabat, and the administrative buildings of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Mary velayat and the city of Mary.
