In July, Turkmenistan actively held a series of international meetings and negotiations in bilateral and multilateral formats dedicated to the development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as issues of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, according to TDH. On 1 July, the Turkmen Foreign Affairs Minister held telephone negotiations with his counterparts from Niger, Burkina Faso, Malawi and Kazakhstan, where they discussed prospects for inter-state partnership and preparations for international forums. On 2 July, negotiations were held with the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Central African Republic and Mali. In Brussels, the Turkmen delegation participated in sessions of the World Customs Organisation Council, where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed: the Training Centre under the State Customs Service was recognised as a regional training centre of the WCO. On 3 July, during a visit to Azerbaijan, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkmenistan met with President Ilham Aliyev, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Azerbaijan and representatives of Afghanistan, discussing energy, transport and trade issues. On 4 July, a Turkmen delegation participated in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation in Azerbaijan, where negotiations were held with representatives of Pakistan and the UAE. Meetings were held in Ashgabat with a parliamentary delegation from Poland and the Minister of Budget of Nigeria. On 7 July, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkmenistan held telephone negotiations with his counterparts from Lesotho and Eswatini, and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan presented his credentials to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic. In New York, the delegation participated in a high-level meeting at the UN headquarters. On 8 July, a telephone conversation was held with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas. On 10–11 July, negotiations were held with the Heads of Foreign Affairs agencies of Belarus, Moldova, Burundi, Chad and South Sudan. On 14 July, a meeting was held in Ashgabat with representatives of the PRC, and a joint communiqué on diplomatic relations with Rwanda was signed in New York. On 15–16 July, bilateral contacts continued with the UAE, New Zealand and other countries. On 16–17 July, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Azerbaijan, where he held negotiations with President Ilham Aliyev and the country’s leadership. In the days that followed, new diplomatic contacts were established with representatives of Uzbekistan, Tunisia, China, San Marino, the Seychelles and Thailand. Turkmenistan's activities in July covered a wide range of topics, from trade and economic cooperation and transport projects to cultural and humanitarian cooperation and participation in global initiatives.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the country's independence. The 13th annual taekwondo tournament for the Cup of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea was held in Ashgabat with the participation of more than 250 young athletes from all velayats of Turkmenistan. The competition was held at the Martial Arts Centre of the Olympic Town. This was reported by the IIC. The tournament, organised by the National Taekwondo Centre of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, brought together participants aged 7 to 18. The athletes competed in 29 weight categories. At the end of the competition, the team from Ashgabat took first place in terms of the number of medals won. Cho Hyun, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan, emphasised that the tournament, which has been held since 2010, has become an important part of sports cooperation between the two countries. Taekwondo, included in the Olympic Games programme since 2000, continues to develop actively in Turkmenistan. The tournament held in Ashgabat demonstrated the growing skill of Turkmen athletes and the popularity of this sport in the country.
Entrepreneurs from Turkmenistan are invited to participate in the Dushanbe Invest-2025 international investment forum. The event, themed ‘Green Economy: Today's Opportunities for a Sustainable Future,’ will be held from 14 to 16 October in Dushanbe. This was reported by the online publication ‘Business Turkmenistan.’ The large-scale forum will bring together heads of government agencies, financial institutions, international organisations and business circles. In addition to the business programme, participants will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage and natural attractions of Tajikistan, which will contribute to strengthening investment and tourism potential. The forum is organised by the State Committee on Investment and State Property Management of Tajikistan in cooperation with the Executive Authority of the City of Dushanbe, with the support of the Government of the Republic. The event will serve as an important platform for establishing business contacts and discussing the prospects for sustainable development in the region.
On 15 August, the Indian Embassy in Ashgabat held a ceremony to mark the 79th anniversary of India's Independence Day. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. The ceremony was opened by Indian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat, who raised the national flag and addressed those present. The programme also featured the launch of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ (‘Flag in Every Home’) initiative, aimed at strengthening respect for state symbols. Specialists at the Scientific and Production Centre for Horse Breeding of the State Association ‘Türkmen atlary’ are introducing modern physiotherapy methods for the treatment and prevention of diseases of the musculoskeletal system in horses. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal with reference to the newspaper ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’. Together with teachers from the Aba Annayev International Academy of Horse Breeding, they are studying the use of electromagnetic fields, laser and light radiation. The research uses equipment from leading manufacturers: the ‘Summerwind Premium Solarium’ therapeutic solarium for phototherapy, the ‘Mphi Vet’ laser device for stimulating tissue regeneration, and the ‘Biomag Lumina’ electromagnetic blanket for recovery and prevention after exercise. The development of physiotherapy technologies is recognised as one of the centre's priorities and will continue to be used in practical horse breeding, including when working with Ahal-Teke horses.
The Turkmenistan youth football team will take part in the 18th International Youth Tournament in St. Petersburg. The event will be dedicated to the distinguished Soviet coach Yuri Morozov. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. The tournament has been held since 2007 and has established itself as one of the most prestigious competitions among youth teams. In addition to the Turkmenistan national team, the following teams will compete for the main trophy in this year's tournament: Russia's ‘Zenit’, Serbia's ‘Crvena Zvezda’, Kazakhstan's ‘Kairat’, Turkey's ‘Fenerbahçe’, Brazil's ‘Fluminense’, as well as the youth teams of Russia and Belarus.
From 22 September to 9 October, entrepreneurs from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan will take part in the ‘Partnering in Business with Germany’ programme. During the three-week trip, they will visit enterprises, undergo training and hold negotiations with German companies, according to the online publication ‘Business Turkmenistan’. The delegation, which will include representatives from ministries and businesses, will focus on cooperation in the food and textile industries, agriculture, green technologies, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, construction, transport and high technology. The German side is interested in joint projects in energy, mechanical engineering, medicine and water management. The programme, under the auspices of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, will serve as a platform for launching new initiatives and strengthening business ties.
The Turkmenistan national Kyokushin karate team has travelled to Tashkent to participate in the Central Asian Cup, which will take place from 18 to 20 August. For Turkmen athletes, the tournament will be an important stage in their preparation for the World Championships in Maebashi, Japan, scheduled for the end of November. The team is led by Meylis Pashakuliyev. It consists of 40 karatekas of different ages and three coaches. The delegation includes both beginners and experienced athletes. Turkmen Transport and Logistics Centre (TULM), the country's leading rail transport operator, has organised the first train on a new international route connecting Turkey, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. This project is being implemented as part of the ‘Europe-Central Asia’ transport corridor and aims to expand multimodal freight transport in the region. This was reported by IIC. The first shipment on the new route was a delivery of humanitarian aid from the United Nations. Turkish railcars arrived at the Etrek station in Turkmenistan. The cargo was then transferred to rolling stock that meets CIS standards for further transport to Kyrgyzstan's Osh station. Established in 2018, TULM plays a key role in developing the national logistics infrastructure, increasing transit traffic volumes and optimising the delivery of multimodal cargo. The successful launch of the new route confirms Turkmenistan's growing importance as a key link in international transport corridors.
As part of the second phase of construction of the ‘smart’ city of Arkadag in southern Turkmenistan, work is continuing on the construction of a large industrial complex, the centrepiece of which will be a modern medical cluster. Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice-President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, familiarised herself with the progress of the work and listened to a report from the Chairman of the State Committee for City Construction. The construction project provides for the creation of a multifunctional production centre where medicines, medical equipment and consumer goods, including baby food, personal protective equipment and other products, will be developed and manufactured. Particular attention is being paid to the use of local raw materials, which will ensure the environmental friendliness of the products and their competitiveness on the market. The cluster's management company has already received international quality certificates, and the ‘Arkadag Medisina Klasteri’ trademark has been officially registered with the World Intellectual Property Organisation. The cluster's capabilities will soon be presented at the Kids EXPO international exhibition in Ashgabat. The project is being implemented as part of the ‘Saglyk’ state programme and is part of the strategy to develop high-tech and import-substituting industries in Turkmenistan. The finished products will be sold both on the domestic market and for export.
Turkmen athlete Alp Arslan Begenjov, reigning world junior freestyle wrestling champion, is among the favourites for the upcoming World Youth Championships in Bulgaria. This was reported by the IIC. The 19-year-old wrestler, who last year became the first junior world champion in the history of Turkmenistan, will defend his title in the 79 kg weight category. In last year's tournament, Begenjov won five convincing victories with a total score of 46:0, without conceding a single point. Begenjov's main rival at the upcoming championship is considered to be Iranian wrestler Mehdi Yusefi, who, after losing to the Turkmen athlete last year, has achieved significant success, including the titles of Asian champion among adults and world champion among juniors under 23 years old. The World Freestyle Wrestling Championship for athletes under 20 will begin on 17 August in Samokov, Bulgaria.
