FC ‘Arkadag’ wins Turkmenistan championship ahead of schedule

On 27 October, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea held a solemn event entitled ‘Introduction of Turkmenistan: Its Foreign Policy, Cultural Heritage and Tourism Opportunities’. The event was attended by diplomats, members of the Ambassadors’ Spouses Association in Seoul, representatives of the media and cultural organisations. In his welcoming speech, Begench Durdyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea, emphasised the importance of the upcoming forum as a platform for dialogue on issues of peace, sustainable development and international cooperation, and called for active participation from the Korean side. The event featured a book exhibition with works by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Handicrafts, carpets, embroidery, jewellery and national ornaments were also on display. The event concluded with a tasting of traditional Turkmen dishes.


Delegates from 56 countries will discuss cooperation at a forum in Turkmenistan

From 3 to 4 November, the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone will host the International Conference and Exhibition ‘Development of the Construction, Industrial, Chemical and Energy Sectors of Turkmenistan’ (CIET 2025). The motto of the event is ‘Smart Construction. Clean Energy. Sustainable Future,’ according to the news website Asmannews. The conference will be attended by representatives from 56 countries, including ministers, heads of multinational corporations, financial organisations and journalists. Turkmenistan strengthens cooperation with the WTO at the Geneva forum

From 22 to 23 October, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) headquarters in Geneva hosted a high-level forum on the ‘CAREC Region and the Multilateral Trading System: Deepening Integration in Central Asia and Beyond’, organised by the WTO in conjunction with the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. The event was attended by a delegation from Turkmenistan led by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Babaniyaz Yalakov. In his speech, he stressed the importance of the country's gradual integration into the multilateral trading system, focusing on the harmonisation of national legislation with WTO rules and the development of regional cooperation. During the forum, the Turkmen delegation met with WTO leadership to discuss Turkmenistan's accession to the organisation, exchange experiences with its members, and explore opportunities for technical and advisory support. Turkmenistan's participation in the forum was a significant step towards expanding cooperation with the WTO and strengthening the country's position in the regional and global economy.

‘Dragon Oil’ and Turkmenistan strengthen energy cooperation

‘Dragon Oil’ celebrated its 25th anniversary of partnership with Turkmenistan, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE, according to the news website Asmannews. The company adheres to high environmental standards, ensuring safe hydrocarbon production and protection of the Caspian Sea. To increase efficiency, artificial intelligence technologies are used in reservoir modelling, equipment diagnostics and monitoring with drones. This allows for optimisation of production and increased safety. Since the start of operations in Turkmenistan, investments have grown from $200 million in 2000 to $15.2 billion by 2025. Total production amounted to 726 million barrels of oil, and since the signing of the agreement on the ‘Cheleken’ block in 1999, 468 million barrels. The company employs 4,760 people, including 2,200 in Turkmenistan, where 93% of the workforce are local specialists. In addition to the oil sector, ‘Dragon Oil’ is involved in environmentally friendly power generation projects, as well as developing solar and wind energy and promoting greening of the environment.


Ways to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals discussed in Ashgabat

Among the participants were the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Chynar Rustemova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Turkmenistan, Stephen Conlon, Director of the Kent State University branch in Florence (Italy), Fabrizio Ricciardelli, Vice-Chancellor for Research at the University of Westminster Andrew Linn, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps and foreign guests. An exhibition marking the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality was opened in the university foyer, showcasing international awards won by students. As part of the conference, the University of Westminster presented the Turkmen university with a certificate for its accelerated English language programme. Participants emphasised the importance of introducing innovation and digital technologies into education, noting the compliance of national programmes with international standards. At the end of the conference, gratitude was expressed to the leadership of Turkmenistan for developing cooperation with UN organisations, including UNESCO and UNICEF.


The President of Turkmenistan will take part in the summit of Central Asian and US leaders in Washington

WHO/Europe consultative and technical mission held in Ashgabat

From 20 to 25 October, a consultative and technical mission from the WHO Regional Office for Europe worked in Ashgabat with the aim of supporting Turkmenistan in the process of validating the elimination of vertical transmission of hepatitis B and syphilis. The mission provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and assessed the country's progress in achieving national goals within the framework of the regional Triple Elimination Initiative (HIV, syphilis and HBV). During the visit, the experts met with the leadership of the Ministry of Health, visited the country's leading medical institutions and, on 23 October, participated in a seminar of the National Working Group, where a roadmap for the validation of double elimination was developed. The results of the mission were summarised at a final meeting at the Ministry of Health and the WHO Country Office.
