Starting in the 2025–2026 academic year, 13 new educational programmes will be introduced at universities in Turkmenistan: four specialised programmes, five bachelor's programmes and four master's programmes. The final stage of the ‘CIS Youth Cyber Sports Games’ kicked off in the Russian capital on 30 July. He noted that e-sports develop valuable qualities such as strategic thinking, team spirit and the will to win, which are important in all areas of life. Sergey Lebedev expressed his confidence that the Games will contribute to strengthening friendly ties between the youth of the Commonwealth countries. The tournament is in line with modern trends in digitalisation and promotes the popularity of e-sports among the younger generation in Turkmenistan and other CIS countries.
The footballers of the Turkmen club ‘Arkadag’ defeated the Kosovar team ‘Gjilani’ in a friendly match held as part of a training camp in Bulgaria. The game ended with a narrow 1-0 victory, according to IIC. On 1 August, OSCE participating States mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Helsinki Final Act, a seminal document that laid the foundation for the largest regional security organisation. This was reported in an article for the newspaper ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’ by the Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, Ambassador John MacGregor, according to Turkmenportal. The Head of the centre emphasised that the signing of the act was a turning point in relations between East and West, allowing the parties to agree on key security issues. The document includes 10 key principles, ranging from sovereignty and the inviolability of borders to the peaceful settlement of conflicts. According to J. MacGregor, the Helsinki Act has become a unique instrument of trust between countries with different political systems, strengthening dialogue and contributing to conflict reduction. The Ambassador also noted that the anniversary coincides with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust. Summing up his work in Ashgabat, he thanked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and all partners for their contribution to strengthening security. Private business in Turkmenistan has advantages due to cheap energy resources and an affordable workforce. This was stated by Eric Livny, Head of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Turkmenistan, in an interview with Trend agency, according to the news website Asmannews. According to him, state support provides entrepreneurs with preferential access to electricity, water and land, which contributes to the development of import substitution and export-oriented industries. The plastic packaging, construction materials and greenhouse products industries are developing particularly actively. Successful projects include ‘Tudana’, which supplies strawberries to the Uzbek chain ‘Korzinka’, and ‘Miwe’, an agricultural company that grows bananas in a 100-hectare greenhouse. The EBRD intends to expand its cooperation with Turkmen banks, including support for foreign economic operations and lending to small and medium-sized businesses.
On 30 July, during foreign trade auctions at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan, two deals were made for a total of 172,420 US dollars. On 28 July 2025, the final meeting of the project council was held in Ashgabat, marking the successful completion of an important initiative. For seven years, experts worked to create an effective system for assessing risks and responding to seismic threats, with a particular focus on the country's capital. This was reported by the IIC. At the final event, representatives of government agencies, the scientific community and international experts discussed the results achieved and outlined prospects for further cooperation. Particular attention was paid to plans to expand the project to other regions of the country, including new cities and tourist areas.
