Transport infrastructure facilities opened in the city of Arkadag

On 30 July, a new avenue and a modern bridge were officially opened in the city of Arkadag. The event was attended by government officials, members of the public and creative groups. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. It was symbolic that at the moment of the ceremony, the plane of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, was flying over the city on its way to the Balkan velayat. The reconstructed bridge connecting Gokdepe Avenue and Keymir Kor was built by Turkmen contractors. It is 627 metres long and 29.5 metres wide, including pedestrian and green areas. The bridge and adjacent roads meet modern standards, ensuring safe traffic flow. The opening was accompanied by festive events: performances by artists, the release of balloons and pigeons, a wedding procession and a festive motorcade. The new Keymir Kor Avenue and transport infrastructure built in the city of Arkadag are part of a large-scale programme to develop the urban environment. The architectural design, landscaping and modern lighting emphasise the harmony and innovative approach to construction. According to participants, these projects reflect the priorities of state policy aimed at improving the quality of life and sustainable development of the regions.


Turkmenistan and Pakistan discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation

A meeting between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan and the Head of the Pakistan Diplomatic Friendship Group, Muhammad Ali Durrani, took place in Islamabad. During the negotiations, the Turkmen side briefed the Pakistani representative in detail on the principles of its foreign policy, based on permanent neutrality, as well as on the country's investment opportunities and favourable business climate. This was reported by IIC. Particular attention was paid to the practical aspects of developing economic partnership. The parties considered specific mechanisms for cooperation, including the organisation of joint business events, exchanges of delegations and the creation of new formats for cooperation between the business communities of the two countries. At the end of the meeting, the participants confirmed their mutual interest in deepening bilateral relations, noting the significant potential for the development of the Turkmen-Pakistani partnership in various fields. The negotiations opened up new prospects for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.


Turkmenistan and UNDP sum up the results of a joint project on seismic safety

On 28 July 2025, the final meeting of the project council was held in Ashgabat, marking the successful completion of an important initiative. For seven years, experts worked to create an effective system for assessing risks and responding to seismic threats, with a particular focus on the country's capital. This was reported by the IIC. At the final event, representatives of government agencies, the scientific community and international experts discussed the results achieved and outlined prospects for further cooperation. Particular attention was paid to plans to expand the project to other regions of the country, including new cities and tourist areas. The project has not only strengthened the country's technical capacity but also helped raise public awareness of earthquake safety measures. The next step will be to integrate the experience gained into the national development strategy and educational programmes, which will enable Turkmenistan to continue improving its natural disaster protection system.


Turkmenistan took part in a FIFA working meeting

From July 21 to 25, a working meeting organized by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) was held in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. The event was attended by 24 specialists from 12 countries, including a delegation from Turkmenistan represented by the Secretary General of the Football Federation Serdar Geldiyev and Technical Director Rovshen Meredov. Under the guidance of leading FIFA technical experts Jamie Houchen and Jürg Nepfer, participants discussed in detail issues related to the technical organization of football activities. Particular attention was paid to long-term planning of football projects, leadership development, and the exchange of international best practices. This event was an important step in the implementation of FIFA's global program for the development of football around the world and confirmed Turkmenistan's active participation in the international football community. 87 social facilities will be built in Turkmenistan by 2028

Turkmenistan is implementing a large-scale social infrastructure development programme until 2028. According to the national programme adopted on 11 July 2025, 87 important facilities will be built within three years, including medical institutions, educational centres and public utilities. This was reported by IIC. The list of construction projects includes four hospitals, 12 polyclinics, 17 kindergartens and 32 schools. Particular attention is being paid to the modernisation of public utilities, with plans to build 12 water treatment plants and six sewage treatment plants. At the same time, modern engineering infrastructure will be created with extensive water supply networks, gas pipelines and power lines. In the Ahal velayat, 19 facilities will be built and 850 km of water pipelines will be laid. The Balkan velayat will receive 14 new facilities, including two hospitals, 19 social facilities will appear in the Dashoguz velayat, and the Lebap and Mary velayats will receive 16 and 18 facilities, respectively. The programme also includes the development of the transport network, the construction of expressways and the improvement of telecommunications systems. These measures are aimed at comprehensively improving living conditions in the country's regions.


Kids Expo 2025 will unite a children's festival and a gastronomic show in Ashgabat

Railway route between Mashhad and Mary to start operating

Iran is preparing to launch three new international railway routes. The first will be a passenger service between the cities of Mashhad and Mary, according to IIC Turkmenistan. The route is expected to strengthen ties with Central Asia and may be extended to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan in the future. There are also plans to open a Tehran-Ankara route, which will be an extension of the Tehran-Van route. The parties are agreeing on fares, and the launch is expected within two months. The third route will be through Rozanak to Herat in Afghanistan. Construction of the last section is nearing completion, and traffic may begin once border formalities have been settled. ‘Türkmennebit’ State Concern exceeded oil production plan due to well repairs

Since the beginning of 2025, divisions of the ‘Nebitgazdüýpliabatlaýyş’ trust of the ‘Türkmennebit’ State Concern have produced an additional 81,830 tonnes of oil due to the overhaul of wells at the Goturdepe, Barsagelmez and Gamyshlyja, according to the online newspaper ‘Nebit-gaz’. This result amounted to 141% of the plan for the first half of the year. The Gamyshlyja well overhaul department stands out in particular, exceeding the plan by more than 24,000 tonnes, repairing 32 wells, 24 of which have been put into operation. A total of 217 wells were overhauled during the period, compared to the target of 199. The work was carried out using the trust's motor transport and specialised management equipment. The restoration of low-yield and shut-in wells is an effective way to increase production. The Balkan velayat remains the country's main oil-producing region.


Training on the international standard ISO 9001 will be held in Ashgabat

The Union of Economists of Turkmenistan has announced a five-day training course entitled ‘ISO 9001: Develop your business through quality’, aimed at promoting the implementation of a quality management system in accordance with the international standard ISO 9001:2015 in Turkmen enterprises. The programme will begin on 15 August with a free introductory seminar, during which participants will be familiarised with the main provisions of the standard. The main course will take place from 25 to 29 August in Ashgabat. The training will be organised in an interactive format with lectures, practical tasks, group discussions and question-and-answer sessions. The training is aimed at managers and specialists responsible for quality management in their organisations. The organisers emphasise that the implementation of ISO 9001:2015 contributes to increased customer satisfaction, process optimisation and cost reduction, which ultimately improves business competitiveness.


A meeting of creative entrepreneurs was held in Ashgabat as part of the Go Viral project

The ‘Arkach’ Business Centre hosted another meeting as part of the regional Go Viral project, which brings together young entrepreneurs, start-ups and creative professionals from Central Asian countries. The Go Night event provided Turkmen innovators with a platform to exchange ideas and seek unconventional solutions in the fields of technology, media and business. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. Participants discussed how traditional cultural elements can be transformed into modern business models with the help of digital technologies. Presentations on the relationship between ethnic heritage and innovative start-ups were of particular interest. After the official part, a lively discussion and networking session took place, where participants were able to establish business contacts and discuss potential collaborations. OSCE held a seminar on climate diplomacy for Turkmen youth in Ashgabat

On 29 July 2025, an OSCE seminar on ‘Youth Negotiation on Climate, Security and Co-operation’ was held in Ashgabat, attended by about 35 students from leading universities in Turkmenistan. The event was organised by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat as part of its support for UNICEF Youth Climate Summer School 2025. This was reported by the IIC. During the seminar, participants studied OSCE environmental initiatives and discussed the integration of a gender perspective into the organisation's strategy. Special attention was paid to the role of Central Asian youth in global negotiations on climate and water security. Finalists of the OSCE Young Women 4 Peace Initiative programme shared their experiences of participating in climate diplomacy. At the end of the seminar, participants drafted a youth statement to be included in the National Youth Statement for COP30. The event was attended by students from leading universities in the country, including the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan and the International Oil and Gas University.


The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Tokyo organised a children's art competition

On 29 July 2025, a bright cultural event took place in Tokyo - a children's drawing competition dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust. The event, organised by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in partnership with the Japanese Children's Council ‘Fujisan Chidama’, brought together young artists and their mentors. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. Before the start of the creative competition, participants were shown a presentation about Turkmenistan, revealing the country's rich cultural heritage, unique natural attractions and main directions of state policy. The children were interested to learn about the activities of the President of Turkmenistan and the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty. Inspired by the knowledge they gained, the young participants created works of art reflecting their vision of peace and trust between peoples. At the end of the competition, all children received letters of appreciation, and the winners were presented with commemorative gifts. The event culminated in a tasting of Turkmen cuisine, which allowed the Japanese guests to learn more about the cultural traditions of Turkmenistan. This event was another step towards strengthening cultural ties between Turkmenistan and Japan, as well as promoting the ideas of peace and mutual understanding among the younger generation.
