An art exhibition dedicated to Science Day has opened in Ashgabat
13.06.2025A thematic exhibition dedicated to Science Day has opened at the State Museum of Fine Arts of Turkmenistan. The exhibition, which includes paintings and sculptures, reflects the contribution of scientists to the development of the country and glorifies scientific thought. This was reported by the IIC. The centrepiece of the exhibition is the famous painting by People's Artist of Turkmenistan Izzat Klychev, ‘Physicists’, depicting a group of researchers engaged in scientific work. Of particular interest is the abstract sculptural composition ‘Atomic Model’ and a miniature image of Avicenna by Mommy Seyitmuradov, depicting the famous scientist in deep thought. A separate section of the exhibition is dedicated to portraits of outstanding Turkmen scientists: geologist Odek Odekov, physician Aysoltan Mametguliyeva, and plant breeders Ivan Maksimenko and Omurguly Ahmedov. The exhibition will run until the end of the month, offering visitors a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the artistic interpretation of scientific progress.
Turkmenistan participated in the ABU-Rai Days 2025 international media forum in Italy
13.06.2025On 12–13 June 2025, Naples hosted the ABU-Rai Days 2025 international media forum, organised jointly by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union and Italian broadcaster RAI. The event, held under the slogan ‘Children and Media: Ensuring the Relevance of Public Media in the 21st Century,’ brought together leading media industry experts to discuss contemporary challenges in the broadcasting sector. This was reported by the IIC. During the professional discussions, particular attention was paid to the transformation of the media space under the influence of digital technologies, issues of protecting children's audiences in conditions of information overload, as well as the prospects for using artificial intelligence in creating content for young people. Turkmenistan was represented at the forum by Allamurat Archayev, delegate of the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography. As part of the event, the Turkmen specialist held a series of working meetings with heads of international media organisations and leading broadcasting companies. Of particular note were the talks with the management of Italy's RAI, during which specific steps were discussed towards concluding a cooperation agreement between the broadcasting organisations of the two countries. Equally productive was the meeting with representatives of the European Broadcasting Union, who offered Turkmenistan associate membership of this prestigious international body.
Turkmenistan and Armenia held consultations on consular issues
13.06.2025On 11 June, interdepartmental consultations between Turkmenistan and Armenia on consular cooperation were held in Yerevan. The meeting brought together specialists from the Foreign Affairs Ministries and relevant agencies of both countries. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. The Turkmen delegation was headed by Dovletmurat Muratov, Head of the Consular Service Department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. The Armenian side was represented by Artur Petrosyan, Head of the Consular Department of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the Republic of Armenia. During the talks, the interlocutors discussed topical aspects of bilateral cooperation, including issues of citizenship, protection of the rights of citizens and legal entities, as well as conditions for mutual travel. Following the consultations, a final protocol was signed. The participants expressed mutual interest in further developing cooperation in all areas of consular work.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan took part in the celebration of the Independence Day of the Philippines
13.06.2025On 12 June 2025, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of the Philippines (resident in Tokyo) A. Bayramov took part in official celebrations marking the country's Independence Day, held at the Malacañang Presidential Palace. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. On behalf of the leadership of Turkmenistan, the diplomat conveyed congratulations to the Philippine side, wishing prosperity and success. During the visit, working meetings were held at the Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Ministry of Tourism of the Philippines. The Turkmen side invited Philippine partners to participate in upcoming international forums in Ashgabat and Avaza dedicated to issues of peace, trust and development of landlocked countries. Special attention was paid to the prospects for cooperation with the Asian Development Bank. During the meeting with ADB President Masato Kanda, plans for joint events to mark the 25th anniversary of the partnership were discussed. The sides confirmed their intention to intensify cooperation in the political, economic and cultural spheres.
Winners of scientific research competition awarded in Turkmenistan
13.06.2025On 12 June, the Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology held a ceremony to award the winners of a scientific research competition. The competition, organised by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organisation, brought together young scientists, students, teachers, and employees of research institutes and industry organisations, according to the state news agency TDH. During the event, a musical composition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality was performed. In his address, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of science and education for the country's development, emphasising that the achievements of young people in the international arena are a source of pride for Turkmenistan. The President also announced support for scientific work and the involvement of young scientists in solving topical issues. The competition was attended by 1,665 young people who presented research in six areas: nanotechnology, biotechnology, information systems, medicine, innovative economics and the humanities. The 118 winners received diplomas and valuable gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. The ceremony ended with a festive concert, which was a gift to the young scientists on Science Day.
Turkmenistan will host a forum for the private sector of landlocked countries
13.06.2025The Office of the United Nations High Representative for the Least Developed Countries and the International Trade Centre will hold a Private Sector Forum for Landlocked Developing Countries as part of the Third United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LLDC3), which will take place from 5 to 8 August 2025 in Baku. Foreign Affairs Ministries of Turkmenistan and Russia discuss preparations for SPIEF

A freight train from Lahore to Astrakhan will pass through Turkmenistan
13.06.2025On 22 June, Pakistan will send its first freight train to Russia, which will pass through Turkmenistan on the eastern branch of the North-South International Transport Corridor. This was reported by the online publication ‘Business Turkmenistan’. The train will depart from Lahore and travel through Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to Astrakhan. The total length of the route is about 8,000 kilometres, and the journey time is 20–25 days. Due to different track gauges, the cargo will be transshipped in Zahedan, Iran. The train will then travel through Turkmenistan, which provides a key link between Iran and Kazakhstan, where a single gauge allows unhindered transit to Russia. Pakistani Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi called the project part of a strategy to develop ties with Central Asia and expand foreign trade.
Turkmenistan strengthens transport cooperation with CIS countries
13.06.2025A delegation from the ‘Türkmendemirýollary’ agency, led by Chairman Azat Atamuradov, took part in the 82nd meeting of the CIS Council on Railway Transport, held on 10–11 June in Dushanbe. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. Despite an overall decline in freight traffic of 3.8%, freight turnover by rail in five countries, including Turkmenistan, showed growth. The meeting discussed measures to increase transit traffic, create favourable tariff conditions and develop container multimodal routes. Issues related to infrastructure modernisation, simplification of border procedures and cost reduction were also considered. A meeting was held between representatives of ‘Türkmendemirýollary’ and the management of Russian Railways (RZhD). RZhD head Oleg Belozerov noted a 2.5-fold increase in container traffic through Turkmenistan along the North-South corridor. The strengthening of international transport cooperation was discussed. A trilateral meeting of the railway authorities of Iran, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan also took place. The parties discussed increasing transit volumes and coordination of container transport. The next meeting of the Council will be held in November 2025 in Baku. A final protocol was signed following the current meeting.
International conference dedicated to Science Day starts in Ashgabat

This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The forum, organised by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, is being held in a hybrid format and is scheduled to last two days. It has become a platform for discussing modern scientific achievements and exchanging experience between specialists from Turkmenistan and foreign countries. Participants include leaders and representatives of academies of sciences, scientific centres and higher education institutions from Russia, China, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Armenia, Qatar, Algeria, Pakistan and other countries. On the eve of the conference, participants visited an exhibition of advanced technologies reflecting the rapid development of science and education in Turkmenistan. The exhibition included innovative developments in biotechnology, ecology and other fields aimed at contributing to sustainable economic development. The main reports at the plenary session were delivered by prominent scientists: Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Sirojiddin Mirzaev, Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Gursky, Academician-Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia Vladimer Papava, Gevorg Vardanyan, expert on CIS issues at the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, Ferial Filali, President of the Scientific Council of the University of Algiers, and Zona Zaidi, Scientific Advisor to the Ministry of Science and Technology of Pakistan. Special attention was paid to the role of science and innovation in socio-economic development. Participants emphasised the importance of scientific knowledge as a tool for solving pressing problems, from healthcare to natural risks. In particular, they discussed issues related to monitoring and forecasting seismic activity, developing anti-seismic technologies and preventive protection systems to ensure infrastructure sustainability and public safety. A cultural programme was organised for foreign participants, including visits to museums and landmarks in Ashgabat.
