Turkmenistan's Permanent Representative to the CIS attended the opening of a photo exhibition in Minsk
18.08.2025The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the CIS, Nazarguly Shagulyev, attended the opening of the photo exhibition ‘Remembering the Past, Building the Future’ at the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. The exhibition, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance of the Chinese people against Japanese invaders and the World Anti-Fascist War, was organised by the Chinese Embassy in Belarus and the Xinhua News Agency. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the CIS leadership, Belarusian government agencies, the diplomatic corps, public organisations, young people and the creative intelligentsia. The exhibition includes 70 historical and contemporary photographs from the Xinhua archives and the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall, demonstrating China's contribution to victory in World War II.
Deals worth over $4 million were concluded at the SCRMET
18.08.2025Last week, 48 deals were concluded with foreign businessmen and Turkmen entrepreneurs at the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan. The total amount of currency transactions amounted to US$4.038 million. Turkmenistan's business representatives purchased products worth 97 million manats for the national currency. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. Liquefied gas produced at the technological installations of the ‘Türkmengaz’ and ‘Türkmenhimiýa’ State Concerns became the subject of transactions with representatives of business circles from Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. Businessmen from Kyrgyzstan and Great Britain purchased raw fabric and cotton yarn at the SCRMET for foreign currency. Turkmen businessmen purchased petroleum road bitumen and base oil produced by the ‘Türkmennebit’ State Concern for the domestic market. Deals were also concluded for handmade carpets and cotton yarn.
The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to South Korea participated in the celebration of Liberation Day
18.08.2025On 15 August, Turkmenistan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Korea, Begench Durdyev, took part in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day. The event was attended by President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung and members of the government, according to the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission. In his speech, the President of the Republic of Korea noted the feat of the Korean people in the struggle for independence, emphasised the desire for reunification, the need for a nuclear-free status of the peninsula, the development of cooperation with Japan and preparations for the APEC summit, which will be held in the country in the third quarter. During a brief conversation with Lee Jae-myung, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan conveyed congratulations and warm wishes on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Korean side expressed gratitude and sent greetings and best wishes in return.

Over 4 million tonnes of cargo passed through the Turkmenbashi port in six months
18.08.2025In the first half of 2025, the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port handled 4 million 209.5 thousand tonnes of cargo. This was reported by the online publication ‘Business Turkmenistan’. Of this volume, 2 million 608 thousand tonnes fell on dry cargo berths, and 1 million 601.5 thousand tonnes on oil and oil product transhipment. In terms of transport structure, exports amounted to 2 million 91.68 thousand tonnes, imports – 620.803 thousand tonnes, and transit – 569.605 thousand tonnes. The main destinations for cargo traffic remain Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The development of port infrastructure, the introduction of electronic document management and the provision of convenient services to customers enable the Turkmenbashi Port to strengthen its position as a key link in the international transit corridors connecting Asia and Europe.
Turkmenistan strengthens cooperation: overview of foreign policy activities in July
18.08.2025In July, Turkmenistan actively held a series of international meetings and negotiations in bilateral and multilateral formats dedicated to the development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as issues of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, according to TDH. On 1 July, the Turkmen Foreign Affairs Minister held telephone negotiations with his counterparts from Niger, Burkina Faso, Malawi and Kazakhstan, where they discussed prospects for inter-state partnership and preparations for international forums. On 2 July, negotiations were held with the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Central African Republic and Mali. In Brussels, the Turkmen delegation participated in sessions of the World Customs Organisation Council, where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed: the Training Centre under the State Customs Service was recognised as a regional training centre of the WCO. On 3 July, during a visit to Azerbaijan, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkmenistan met with President Ilham Aliyev, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Azerbaijan and representatives of Afghanistan, discussing energy, transport and trade issues. On 4 July, a Turkmen delegation participated in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organisation in Azerbaijan, where negotiations were held with representatives of Pakistan and the UAE. Meetings were held in Ashgabat with a parliamentary delegation from Poland and the Minister of Budget of Nigeria. On 7 July, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Turkmenistan held telephone negotiations with his counterparts from Lesotho and Eswatini, and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan presented his credentials to the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic. In New York, the delegation participated in a high-level meeting at the UN headquarters. On 8 July, a telephone conversation was held with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Kaja Kallas. On 10–11 July, negotiations were held with the Heads of Foreign Affairs agencies of Belarus, Moldova, Burundi, Chad and South Sudan. On 14 July, a meeting was held in Ashgabat with representatives of the PRC, and a joint communiqué on diplomatic relations with Rwanda was signed in New York. On 15–16 July, bilateral contacts continued with the UAE, New Zealand and other countries. On 16–17 July, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited Azerbaijan, where he held negotiations with President Ilham Aliyev and the country’s leadership. In the days that followed, new diplomatic contacts were established with representatives of Uzbekistan, Tunisia, China, San Marino, the Seychelles and Thailand. Turkmenistan's activities in July covered a wide range of topics, from trade and economic cooperation and transport projects to cultural and humanitarian cooperation and participation in global initiatives.
President of Turkmenistan congratulates Indonesian counterpart

The 13th Taekwondo Cup of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea has concluded in Turkmenistan
18.08.2025The 13th annual taekwondo tournament for the Cup of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea was held in Ashgabat with the participation of more than 250 young athletes from all velayats of Turkmenistan. The competition was held at the Martial Arts Centre of the Olympic Town. This was reported by the IIC. The tournament, organised by the National Taekwondo Centre of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, brought together participants aged 7 to 18. The athletes competed in 29 weight categories. At the end of the competition, the team from Ashgabat took first place in terms of the number of medals won. Cho Hyun, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan, emphasised that the tournament, which has been held since 2010, has become an important part of sports cooperation between the two countries. Taekwondo, included in the Olympic Games programme since 2000, continues to develop actively in Turkmenistan. The tournament held in Ashgabat demonstrated the growing skill of Turkmen athletes and the popularity of this sport in the country.
Turkmen businessmen are invited to the Dushanbe Invest-2025 investment forum

The event, themed ‘Green Economy: Today's Opportunities for a Sustainable Future,’ will be held from 14 to 16 October in Dushanbe. Ashgabat marks 79th anniversary of India's independence

Scientists from Turkmenistan are introducing innovative methods for treating horses
17.08.2025Specialists at the Scientific and Production Centre for Horse Breeding of the State Association ‘Türkmen atlary’ are introducing modern physiotherapy methods for the treatment and prevention of diseases of the musculoskeletal system in horses. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal with reference to the newspaper ‘Neutral Turkmenistan’. Together with teachers from the Aba Annayev International Academy of Horse Breeding, they are studying the use of electromagnetic fields, laser and light radiation. The research uses equipment from leading manufacturers: the ‘Summerwind Premium Solarium’ therapeutic solarium for phototherapy, the ‘Mphi Vet’ laser device for stimulating tissue regeneration, and the ‘Biomag Lumina’ electromagnetic blanket for recovery and prevention after exercise. The development of physiotherapy technologies is recognised as one of the centre's priorities and will continue to be used in practical horse breeding, including when working with Ahal-Teke horses.
The Turkmenistan youth team will participate in the Yuri Morozov Memorial Tournament
17.08.2025The Turkmenistan youth football team will take part in the 18th International Youth Tournament in St. Petersburg. The event will be dedicated to the distinguished Soviet coach Yuri Morozov. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. The tournament has been held since 2007 and has established itself as one of the most prestigious competitions among youth teams. In addition to the Turkmenistan national team, the following teams will compete for the main trophy in this year's tournament: Russia's ‘Zenit’, Serbia's ‘Crvena Zvezda’, Kazakhstan's ‘Kairat’, Turkey's ‘Fenerbahçe’, Brazil's ‘Fluminense’, as well as the youth teams of Russia and Belarus.
