A delegation from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan is on a working visit to Porto, Portugal, where the 32nd annual meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is taking place from 29 June to 3 July. This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan. The forum also includes an event entitled ‘The Year of International Peace and Trust: Principles of Dialogue and Neutrality in Maintaining Peace and Security, Mutual Trust,’ organised by the Mejlis and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. In addition, representatives of Turkmenistan took part in a meeting with Farah Karimi, Special Representative of the OSCE PA for Central Asia. The efforts of countries in the region to combat climate change and legislative initiatives in the field of ecology were discussed. The Turkmen delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the Assembly and the general plenary meeting, where key challenges and priorities on the international agenda were discussed.

Turkmen Ambassador of Technovation Girls receives prestigious international award

Saparguly Mahtumov, ambassador of the Technovation Girls international programme from Turkmenistan, was among the four winners of the GALA-2025 Global Ambassador Leadership Award. He became the first young man in the history of the award to receive this high honour for his active work in promoting STEM education among girls in Turkmenistan and Central Asia. As Technovation programme coordinator Megan Black noted at the online award ceremony, Saparguly has proven himself to be a talented organiser, providing technical support to participants and coordinating the work of ambassadors across the country. This season, he was joined by winners from Spain, Nigeria and Kyrgyzstan. Technovation Girls is a global initiative that has been successfully implemented in Turkmenistan for four years. The programme aims to engage girls in technology and social entrepreneurship through the creation of mobile applications that solve pressing social issues. The best teams get the opportunity to present their projects at the Global Summit in California in front of experts from leading IT companies. This victory confirms Turkmenistan's significant contribution to the development of digital education and gender equality in STEM, opening up new prospects for the country's young talents.


Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Zambia held a telephone conversation

Teachers and students of the Turkmen Institute of World Languages received certificates from Moscow State University

On 27 June, the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages held a ceremony to award certificates of advanced training issued by Lomonosov Moscow State University. More than 300 teachers and students of the institute successfully completed distance learning courses in Russian language and literature. This was reported by the online publication Turkmenportal. First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan, representative of ‘Rossotrudnichestvo’ Yulia Zaitseva congratulated the graduates, noting that the knowledge they had gained would form the basis for their professional growth. Selbi Batyrova, Vice-Rector for Research at the institute, emphasised the importance of studying Russian language and literature, calling it a ‘bridge of friendship between peoples.’ The courses were held in two stages, from 24 February to 10 March and from 24 March to 7 April. The programme introduced participants to the latest achievements in Russian philological science. The certificate award ceremony was attended by representatives of the Russian Embassy, the institute's management and other distinguished guests.


A Russian-Turkmen concert will be held in Turkmenistan to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory Day

The event is organised by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation in conjunction with the ‘Sounds of the Dutar’ Foundation as part of the XIX International Festival ‘Gathering of Friends.’ This was reported by the online publication Turkmenportal. The concert was inspired by the book ‘Music of Peace, Music of Friendship and Brotherhood’ by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which reveals the richness of Turkmen musical art. Renowned Turkmen performers, whose mastery has been recognised worldwide, will come to Moscow. Turkmenistan and Qatar discussed the development of bilateral cooperation

This was reported by the news agency Orient. During the event, Maya Klycheva, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences and Associate Professor at MGIMO, gave a presentation. She presented the results of a sociolinguistic analysis, spoke about the teaching of the Turkmen language in Russia and highlighted social changes in Turkmenistan through the prism of language. M. Klycheva also noted that the Turkmen language was included in the MGIMO programme in the early 2000s on the initiative of the Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry, with the support of universities in Turkmenistan.
