Turkmenistan facilitates the transit of foreigners through humanitarian corridors

On 23 June, Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov met with the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi. During the talks, the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation, according to the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. According to the source, the two sides exchanged views on pressing international and regional issues of mutual interest, including the situation in the Middle East. It was also noted that Turkmenistan was one of the first to take a position on the situation between Israel and Iran, emphasising that, as a state with UN-recognised status of positive permanent neutrality, it does not accept the use or threat of force to resolve political or other issues. Special attention was paid to the need to use exclusively political and diplomatic measures to resolve conflicts peacefully on the basis of the UN Charter and universally recognised norms of international law. In this regard, the Turkmen side, guided by the principles of peaceful resolution of international problems, expressed its readiness to participate in the settlement of the current situation in the Middle East through negotiations with all interested parties with a view to achieving peace, security and stability in the region as soon as possible. The Iranian Foreign Minister thanked brotherly Turkmenistan, its leadership and people for their constant support and confirmed his readiness to continue constructive political dialogue with the Turkmen side.


The Ambassador of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Director of the National Library of Georgia

On 23 June, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Georgia, Dovletmyrat Seyitmammedov, met with the Director General of the National Library of Georgia, Konstantine Gamsakhurdia. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. K. Gamsakhurdia spoke about the work of the library, its history and unique collections of ancient books from private and state funds. Turkmenistan's resolution on neutrality unanimously adopted at OIC Council of Foreign Ministers meeting

On 21–22 June 2025, the 51st meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held in Istanbul with the participation of a Turkmen delegation. During the event, key issues of politics, economics, culture, science and humanitarian cooperation were discussed, as well as ways to strengthen stability and sustainable development in OIC countries. The representative of Turkmenistan emphasised the country's commitment to developing partnerships within the OIC and expanding cooperation with the organisation's member states. Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan's initiative to declare 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust by the UN General Assembly. On 22 June, at the proposal of Turkmenistan, a resolution ‘On the Role of the Policy of Neutrality in Maintaining and Strengthening International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development in the OIC Space and Around the World’ was unanimously adopted. The document confirms that neutrality contributes to strengthening stability and developing mutually beneficial relations between countries. The adoption of the resolution reflects recognition of Turkmenistan's peacekeeping strategy aimed at strengthening trust, developing dialogue and constructive international cooperation.


Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Tajikistan held a meeting with the Head of the Khatlon region

Turkmenistan expands cooperation with IAEA

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the development of Turkmenistan's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) during a government meeting on 20 June. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. Turkmenistan actively cooperates with the IAEA, applying advanced international practices in the peaceful use of atomic energy in healthcare, agriculture, ecology and water management. Proposals have been prepared to expand the partnership, including the signing of the International Atomic Energy Agency's Country Framework Programme for Turkmenistan for 2025-2029, which defines priority areas and objectives for cooperation. The issue of the country's accession to the Agreement on the Privileges and Immunities of the International Atomic Energy Agency and the organisation of the participation of a Turkmen delegation in the 69th session of the IAEA General Conference in Vienna are also being considered. In addition, it was proposed to hold a regional seminar on nuclear material security in Ashgabat in November with the participation of experts from Central Asia, the Caucasus and Asia. After hearing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of strengthening cooperation with international organisations and instructed to continue active work with the IAEA.


The President of Turkmenistan has approved a tender for the construction of an ammonia plant

On 20 June, during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved the announcement of an international tender for the construction of an ammonia and ammonium nitrate production plant in the Mary velayat. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The proposal to announce the tender was presented by Deputy Prime Minister Baymyrat Annamammedov. The Deputy Prime Minister also reported on the activities of the complex under his supervision, in particular the State Concern ‘Türkmenhimiýa’. In his report, he noted that active work is currently underway to produce various mineral fertilisers, strengthen the material and technical base of the industry and launch new production facilities. After listening to the report, the Head of State emphasised the importance of developing the mineral fertiliser industry and noted that modern enterprises equipped with innovative equipment and technologies are being built and put into operation in Turkmenistan. The President of Turkmenistan instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to take all necessary measures to organise an international tender.
