On 24-25 May 2025, the capital of Turkmenistan will be the venue for the XXIV White City Ashgabat Multidisciplinary International Exhibition and Conference. The event, organised by the Ashgabat Mayor's (Khakim) Office, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and Turkmen Energy Forum Company, will be a key platform for demonstrating the city's achievements in urban planning, industry, science and education. The conference programme includes plenary sessions, thematic sessions and bilateral meetings aimed at discussing strategies for sustainable development of Ashgabat itself and the country as a whole. The main topics include digitalisation of urban infrastructure, green construction, development of renewable energy, modernisation of the industrial sector, improvement of the transport system, public-private partnership mechanisms and introduction of innovative solutions in healthcare and education. The Conference will open with a plenary session entitled ‘International Year of Peace and Trust: White City Ashgabat - City of Future and Opportunity’. The central leitmotif will be the positioning of Ashgabat as a benchmark for sustainable development and introduction of advanced technologies. One of the key sessions will be ‘Modern Construction and Industry: Technologies and Financing’, where the transformation of the construction industry, introduction of innovations in the production of construction materials and ways of financing infrastructure projects will be considered. It is also planned to discuss international industrial cooperation and technological modernisation. The session ‘Technological Innovations in Modernising the Construction, Industrial and Energy Sectors of Turkmenistan's Economy’ will focus on digital transformation and improving the efficiency of key sectors. The discussion will cover the introduction of AI, digital solutions and new production models focused on safety, environmental friendliness and sustainability. A separate block will be devoted to human capital development - interaction between business and educational institutions and training of new generation of engineering and technical specialists. Special attention will be paid to the training of personnel capable of working effectively in the digital economy. The focus will also be on the modernisation of road infrastructure with the use of energy efficient and intelligent technologies aimed at sustainable development of urban transport systems.
Leaders of foreign states have sent congratulations to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on behalf of the Turkmen people and the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan congratulated President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The International Information Centre of Turkmenistan and ‘Russia-1’ shot a joint report about Hero of Turkmenistan Berdimuhamed Annayev. This is reported by the International Information Centre. Berdimuhamed Annayev was born in 1904 in the village of Yzgant (now Gokdepe etrap of Akhal velayat). In 1944 he voluntarily went to the front of the Great Patriotic War, where he fought in the 748th rifle regiment of the 206th division of the 2nd Ukrainian Front. Berdimuhamed Annayev was posthumously awarded for heroism with the medal ‘For Bravery’ (Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, June 2018). After returning from the front, he became a teacher of the Turkmen language. In 2020, the battle standard of the regiment under which he fought was delivered to Ashgabat as a symbol of memory. Turkmenistan made a significant contribution to the Victory: more than 300 thousand of its natives participated in the war, 104 became Heroes of the Soviet Union. The People’s Memory Memorial Complex in Ashgabat is dedicated to the fallen in the war and earthquake victims.
A unique training course organised by the State Customs Service in cooperation with the Ozone Centre of the Ministry of Environment Protection was held in the city of Arkadag. The event is aimed at training specialists to detect and stop illegal trafficking of ozone-depleting substances and hydrofluorocarbons. As part of the programme, the recruits studied international environmental standards, familiarized themselves with the national legislation, mastered practical methods of detecting smuggling, and underwent special training on identification of hazardous substances. The Director of the Training Centre under the SCS stressed that such courses are becoming an important platform for the professional development of employees and strengthening the country's environmental security.
A delegation of Turkmenistan took part in the tenth meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea (HLWG), which was held from 5 to 7 May in Moscow. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The event was also attended by delegations from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. During the talks, the interlocutors considered methods of establishing direct baselines in the Caspian Sea, as well as the prospects of preparing the next meeting of foreign ministers. Co-operation in the Caspian Sea was also reviewed. The next meeting of the HLWG will be held in Turkmenistan on dates that have been agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
Turkmenistan Airlines notifies citizens of Turkmenistan and all passengers planning a trip to the Republic of Korea about the entry into force of new requirements established by the migration service of this country. The information is published on the official website of the air carrier. According to the updated rules, all those entering the Republic of Korea must fill in the electronic arrival card no later than three days before arrival. This measure is aimed at optimising passport control procedures and reducing the time of passing formalities on arrival. In this regard, the airline strongly recommends all passengers to fill out the card in advance, at least 72 hours before departure, to avoid possible delays at the airport. Recall that Turkmenistan Airlines will start operating direct flights between Ashgabat and Seoul from 14 July.
On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent official congratulations to the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Israel. This will be the third time they will participate in the Victory Day parade. Before that, the company of Turkmenistan's guard of honour marched with honour through Red Square in 2010 and 2020. The capital of Uzbekistan is hosting the landmark exhibition "Women Artists of the Turkic World" which brings together talented authors from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. The exhibition presents a rare synthesis of traditional art and modern artistic endeavours - from national crafts to avant-garde experiments. The official visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to France has opened new prospects for Turkmen-French cooperation in advanced technological sectors. According to the source, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the ‘Türkmenaragatnaşyk’ agency and ‘Airbus Defence and Space SAS,’ which will allow Turkmenistan to intensify interaction with the world leader of aerospace industry in the field of space technologies and satellite communications. A framework agreement was also reached between the ‘Türkmenaragatnaşyk’ agency and the French company ‘Thales Alenia Space France’ to modernise Turkmenistan's national communications satellite ‘TürkmenÄlem’. The signing ceremony took place in Paris within the framework of the Turkmen-French Economic Forum, which emphasises the desire of Turkmenistan and France to strengthen mutually beneficial partnerships.
Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan Gulmurat Myradov held a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan Nurlan Nogayev on 5 May. The meeting was attended by relevant persons from the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the country, the Commission's press service reported. During the talks, they presented Turkmenistan's electoral system, election commissions, their establishment, powers and activities, which are based on democratic principles and in accordance with the Constitution and the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan. G.Myradov also stressed that close, friendly relations are maintained with the Central Election Commission of Kazakhstan. In turn, the Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the reception and handed over an invitation from the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Abdirov to the first meeting of the Consultative Platform of the Central Election Bodies of the OTS member countries, as well as to the international scientific-practical conference ‘The Turkic World: Electoral Traditions, Experience and Development Prospects’. N.Nogayev also emphasised the cultural and spiritual ties between the Turkmen and Kazakh peoples. At the end of the meeting G.Myradov expressed hope for the continuation and strengthening of co-operation between the CECs of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and wished the guests success in their work.
