Head of Turkmenistan Customs Service Meets with WCO Secretary General
28.06.2025During a working visit to Brussels, the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, Maksat Hudaykuliev, met with the Secretary General of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), Ian Saunders. The meeting was also attended by Sapar Palvanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Belgium, according to the news website Turkmenportal. M. Hudaykuliev confirmed his desire to expand cooperation with WCO, including projects on risk management and staff training. Special attention was paid to the training centre at the State Customs Service, which has been granted the status of a regional training centre. The ambassador conveyed official invitations to the Secretary General of the WCO to attend the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries and the High-Level Dialogue on Peace. The Secretary General of the Organization accepted both invitations and confirmed his participation in the August forum. In addition, Mr. Saunders noted Turkmenistan's contribution to the development of the customs sector.
A university for industrialists and entrepreneurs has been established in Turkmenistan
28.06.2025On 27 June, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree establishing the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The decision was made as part of the implementation of the ‘Programme of the President of Turkmenistan for the Socio-Economic Development of the Country in 2022-2028’ and is aimed at supporting the business sector and developing a system for training qualified personnel. According to the document, the decision of the Board of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan to establish a new higher education institution has been approved. The Ministry of Education has been instructed to provide comprehensive support in organisational and legal matters, including the development of the charter, licensing and state accreditation in accordance with the established procedure. The new university will train specialists in accordance with international educational standards. The start of student enrolment is scheduled for the 2025–2026 academic year. It is also planned to attract foreign teachers and experts to improve the quality of the educational process. It is planned to determine the areas of training, approve curricula and tuition fees.
Turkmenistan and Japan discussed aspects of economic cooperation

The guest expressed gratitude for the reception and noted the interest of Japanese business in cooperation with Turkmenistan, emphasising the favourable investment climate in the country. In turn, the Head of State confirmed the strategic nature of Turkmen-Japanese relations based on mutual respect. The President of Turkmenistan recalled his visit to Japan in April, during which important agreements were reached, including Turkmenistan's participation in the ‘Expo 2025’. H.Tsubai, in turn, emphasised the significance of the initiatives put forward by the President during those talks and reported on steps to implement them. The sides discussed the current state and prospects of economic cooperation. Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the contribution of Japanese companies, including ITOCHU Corporation, to Turkmenistan's industry and expressed readiness to expand partnership, especially in new areas. At the end of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan thanked the Executive Vice President of ITOCHU Corporation for his contribution to strengthening bilateral ties and wished him success in his future work.

Turkmenistan Aviation School receives international ICAO certification

Turkmen and Indian analysts discussed prospects for cooperation

Universities of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea signed a Memorandum of Understanding

28.06.2025A delegation from Turkmenistan took part in the VII International Conference ‘Information and Communication in the Digital Age’, which was held from 25 to 27 June in Khanty-Mansiysk as part of the XVI International IT Forum and UNESCO's intergovernmental programme ‘Information for All’. The conference was attended by about 120 delegates from more than 40 countries, including experts in the field of IT, politics, scientists, journalists, as well as representatives of educational and cultural institutions. Turkmenistan and UKEF discuss prospects for economic cooperation

Turkmen wrestlers won four medals at the Asian U23 Youth Championships
27.06.2025Turkmenistan showed excellent results at the Asian Wrestling Championships for athletes under 23 years of age in Vietnam, winning one silver and three bronze medals. More than 200 athletes from 15 countries participated in the competition. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The main hero of the tournament was 18-year-old Alp Arslan Begenjov (weight category up to 79 kg), who won a silver medal for the team in freestyle wrestling. Three bronze medals added to the team's success. In freestyle wrestling, Vatan Annaorazov (up to 74 kg) and Soltan Sanjar Begenjov (up to 86 kg) distinguished themselves. In Greco-Roman wrestling, Didar Orazberdiyev (up to 72 kg) won bronze. Turkmen wrestlers confirmed their progress on the international stage, demonstrating a high level of training.

The Turkmenistan national team won seven medals at the competition in Beijing
