Turkmenistan will send humanitarian aid to Iran
14.03.2026The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, has signed a Decree on the dispatch of humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Iran. This was reported by TDH. The Decree was issued to mark the month of Ramadan and the sacred Night of Power – Laylat al-Qadr – as well as in keeping with the traditions of friendship and good neighbourliness. According to the Decree, a humanitarian consignment will be sent to the people of Iran, primarily to children, on behalf of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. It will include medicines, medical supplies and other products.
Large-scale tree planting will take place in Turkmenistan on 21 March

According to the document, the mass planting of saplings will take place on 21 March 2026. This was reported by the online publication AsmanNews. The decision was taken with the aim of expanding forest areas, maintaining green spaces and implementing the Resolution ‘On the planting of saplings in Turkmenistan in 2026’. Ministries, sectoral departments and the governorships of the velayats, as well as the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, have been instructed to ensure a high level of organisation for the campaign.

The document was adopted in accordance with the principles of mercy and humanism, and with a view to strengthening the cohesion of Turkmen society and family values. Under the Decree, the pardoned citizens are released from further serving their main sentence of imprisonment.
The ‘Lebap’ Cement Plant is ramping up production for national construction projects
14.03.2026The Koytendag region, with its rich resource base, remains a strategic industrial hub for Turkmenistan. As part of socio-economic development programmes, the ‘Lebap’ cement plant was constructed in two phases, according to the IIC of Turkmenistan. The first phase began operations in 2013, and the second eleven years later, which helped to strengthen the import substitution policy and supply the country’s major construction projects with domestically produced cement. Today, the plant supplies materials for the construction of residential complexes, schools, hospitals and industrial facilities across the country. The plant produces Portland cement and its sulphate-resistant variants. Last year, the plant produced over 1.53 million tonnes of product, and in the first two months of this year – 218,000 tonnes. Once it reaches full capacity, the volume of supply will reach up to 2 million tonnes per year. Raw materials are extracted from five quarries located between 3 and 70 km away, which reduces transport costs and the cost of production. Delivery is carried out by road and rail, and strict monitoring of contract fulfilment ensures competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. More than 800 qualified specialists are responsible for the plant’s success. The administration and trade union of the Koytendag etrap actively motivate the workforce by recognising the best employees. Modern technology and the dedication of the staff enable the ‘Lebap’ plant to maintain its leading position and make a significant contribution to the country’s economy.
FC ‘Arkadag’ has won the Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup
14.03.2026The Turkmenistan Football Federation Cup concluded in Ashgabat on 12 March. ‘Arkadag’ and ‘Şagadam’ faced off in the final at the ‘Aşgabat’ Stadium, according to the IIC of Turkmenistan. The reigning champions confirmed their status with a 2-0 victory: Meylis Diniyev scored in the 3rd minute, and Didar Durdyev sealed the win in the 61st minute, securing FC ‘Arkadag’s second consecutive title. In the third-place play-off, ‘Ahal’ beat ‘Aşgabat’ 2-0: Ashyr Jumadurdyev scored in the 79th minute, and an own goal by Mergen Nurlyev sealed the final score. An awards ceremony was held after the final. Eight teams took part in the tournament, divided into groups: Group A – ‘Köpetdag’, ‘Ahal’, ‘Şagadam’, ‘Nebitçi’; Group B – ‘Arkadag’, ‘Aşgabat’, ‘Merw’ and the U-20 national team.
Turkmenistan took part in an UPU seminar on new payment systems

Atayev, Head of the International Relations Department at the postal service company ‘Türkmenpoçta’ under the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan, took part in a seminar on payment for member countries of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which was held from 10 to 11 March in Tbilisi and organised by the UPU International Bureau. This was reported by IIC of Turkmenistan. E. Kubusidze, Head of the Department of Communications, Information and Modern Technologies at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, K. Aleksidze, representative of the UPU Regional Office in Tbilisi, and other officials addressed the gathering with welcoming remarks. The training was aimed at enhancing the technical competence of postal operators in Europe and the CIS regarding UPU payment systems for letters, small packets and parcels. During the two-day event, participants studied the new payment systems developed following the 28th UPU Congress, including their practical application within the Integrated Payment System (IPS). The seminar was an important initiative for strengthening postal security in the region.

The Turkmenistan U-17 team will compete in the CAFA U-17 Championship in Tashkent

The tournament will take place in Tashkent from 4 to 14 April, according to the news website Turkmenportal. The matches will be held at the ‘Do'stlik’ Stadium in Tashkent. In addition to the Turkmenistan team, the national teams of Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will take part in the competition. Players born on or after 1 January 2010 are eligible to participate in the tournament. The CAFA notes that the championship is aimed at preparing the region’s youth national teams for future continental and world tournaments. Turkmenistan will be represented at the 33rd International Book Fair in Minsk
13.03.2026Turkmenistan will be represented at the 33rd International Book Fair, which will be held from 17 to 22 March in Minsk. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. This year, about 500 exhibitors from 23 countries will take part. On 20 March, Turkmenistan Day will be held on the central stage as part of the CIS thematic days, which will be held jointly with Uzbekistan Day. Each country will be provided with a separate platform for presenting national literature and new releases. OSCE organised a regional seminar in Ashgabat
13.03.2026From 10 to 12 March, a regional seminar organised by the OSCE was held in Ashgabat. The event was dedicated to issues of international humanitarian assistance to refugees, migrants and stateless persons. This was reported by the news website Asmannews. The event was attended by representatives of five Central Asian countries — border and customs officials, as well as representatives of migration, law enforcement agencies and relevant ministries. The opening ceremony was addressed by the Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, representatives of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan and the German Embassy. The Head of the OSCE Centre, William Leaf, stressed that the growth of cross-border mobility requires strengthening international cooperation and developing safe and humane migration policies. Participants discussed international experience in providing assistance to refugees, migrants and stateless persons, taking into account human rights principles as well as gender and age aspects. Experts from the OSCE, UNHCR, the International Organisation for Migration and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development took part in the discussions. The seminar was held as part of the OSCE Centre's project to strengthen the capacity of the State Border Service of Turkmenistan with financial support from the German government.
