Turkmenistan took part in the meeting of the CIS Economic Council

Turkmenistan took part in a meeting of the CIS Economic Council held in Tajikistan and chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Hokim Holikzoda. This was reported by IIC. Representatives of all CIS countries participated in the council's work. Turkmenistan was represented by Aymyrat Gochmyradov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Tajikistan. The event was attended by CIS Secretary General Sergey Lebedev. There were 27 items on the agenda: economic cooperation, digitalisation, scientific and technical development, healthcare, trade barriers and multimodal transport corridors. Key documents were approved: the Strategy for Cooperation in the Field of the Information Society and Digital Economy until 2035, the second stage of the CIS Economic Development Strategy (2026-2030), and the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development for 2026-2035. Programmes to support innovation and small and medium-sized enterprises, intellectual property protection, and initiatives to hold a Year of Health Protection in the CIS in 2026 were discussed, and a unified budget for the Commonwealth bodies for 2026 was proposed. The final documents will be submitted for consideration by the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS on 29 September in Minsk, and the next meeting of the Economic Council will be held on 5 December 2025 in Moscow.


New tariffs for the services of the electronic collection ‘Adalat’ have been approved in Turkmenistan

The Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan has set new rates for providing legal information through the ‘Adalat’ electronic database. The relevant order was signed by Minister of Justice Merettagan Taganov, according to the news website Turkmenportal. Individuals now pay 200 manats for a one-time purchase of the programme, while legal entities pay 400 manats. Licensed private notaries pay 240 manats annually. Access to the ‘Adalat’ online platform via the internet costs 20 manats per month per user. The fees include consultations on using the programme, and the cost of electronic media is paid separately. The new order replaces the document dated 7 November 2017 and was registered in the state register on 1 September 2025.


Thirty schoolchildren took part in the Makerspace programme in Ashgabat

Thirty schoolchildren successfully completed a two-week Makerspace educational programme at the American Centre in Ashgabat, according to the online publication Arzuw.news. As part of the programme, participants learned the basics of programming, robotics and electronics. The project was aimed at developing technical skills among future innovators in Turkmenistan. The organisers emphasised that the skills and knowledge acquired by the schoolchildren will form a solid foundation for their further professional growth in the field of modern technology.


Turkmenistan will present its products at the ‘Halal Expo 2025’ exhibition in Istanbul

Turkmenistan will participate in the ‘Halal Expo 2025’ international exhibition, which will be held in Istanbul in November. The participation of the national pavilion was approved by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, on 5 September at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, according to the state news agency TDH. At the exhibition, Turkmen companies will present products in the fields of agriculture, textiles, transport, logistics and tourism, demonstrating the country's commitment to diversifying exports and complying with international standards. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyev reported on preparations for the event. The Head of State stressed that participation in such exhibitions strengthens trade and economic ties with foreign partners.


The Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan approved Memoranda with the Red Cross Society of Russia and the Red Crescent Society of Qatar

A meeting of the Heads of the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of the CIS countries, with the participation of the International Federation and the International Committee of the Red Cross, has concluded in Ashgabat. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. Following the event, Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan and organisations from Qatar and Russia, aimed at strengthening cooperation. Vice-President of the Qatar Red Crescent Society Ebrahim Hashim Al-Sada noted that the Memorandum will enable the development of joint projects in the field of volunteering and humanitarian activities. Pavel Savchuk, Chairman of the Russian Red Cross, emphasised the importance of exchanging experience in responding to emergencies and training specialists to work with mobile stations and tents. The two-day meeting was held under the motto ‘International Year of Peace and Trust – Humanism and Neutrality’. Participants discussed the development of National Societies, volunteer activities, humanitarian diplomacy and legislative regulation. The event coincided with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and highlighted the significance of the agreements reached.


Turkmen students went on an internship to the Republic of Korea

A group of students from the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages went on an internship at Kangwon National University in the Republic of Korea. This was reported by the news website Turkmenportal. The training, which will run from 25 August 2025 to 25 July 2026, covers Korean and English language programmes. The initiative aims to strengthen humanitarian cooperation between Turkmenistan and South Korea, expand students' professional knowledge and train qualified specialists. The project also contributes to the development of friendly ties and opens up new prospects for partnership in the field of education and science.


A meeting with a UNECE consultant was held in Ashgabat

On 2 September, representatives of the State Veterinary Service of Turkmenistan met with Viktoras Zabolotnas, a consultant to the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, in Ashgabat. The parties discussed the conduct of a national assessment of trade barriers, initiated at the official request of the government as part of its support for economic reforms and digitalisation processes. The study, which is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025, aims to improve trade procedures and develop quality infrastructure, from standards and regulation to metrology. The results of the assessment are expected to contribute to the creation of a more favourable business environment, the expansion of foreign economic activity and the strengthening of Turkmenistan's position in international markets, ensuring sustainable economic growth.


A regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers was held in Turkmenistan

On 5 September, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers via a digital system. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. First, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, reported on the progress of modernising the country's legislation in accordance with socio-economic development programmes and proposals from ministries. Then, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov presented the ‘Concept for the Development of the Labour Market of Turkmenistan until 2030’ and a plan for its implementation. Next, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov reported on the modernisation of ‘Türkmennebit’ Oil Refineries and the launch of new production facilities. Next, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Tangryguly Atahallyev reported on the progress of agricultural campaigns: the sowing of wheat, the cultivation of vegetables and preparations for the cotton harvest. Next, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Baymyrat Annamammedov reported on the construction of new industrial enterprises, including a glass production facility in the Ahal velayat. Then, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Nokerguly Atagulyev reported on the preparation of the national pavilion of Turkmenistan for the ‘Halal Expo 2025’ exhibition in Istanbul. Next, Deputy Prime Minister Bahar Seyidova reported on preparations for the final round of the television competition ‘Ýaňlan, Diýarym!’. Turkmenistan and Japan discussed economic cooperation

The parties discussed the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation, emphasising the high interest of Japanese business in the Turkmen market and the significant role of the President of Turkmenistan in the development of business relations. Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of cooperation with international financial institutions, as well as the development of macroeconomic policy and the expansion of investment opportunities. Particular attention was paid to partnership with Japanese companies in the field of efficient use of natural resources and the implementation of large-scale projects. Amakawa Kazuhiko stated the bank's readiness to expand cooperation, especially in the field of gas production and processing. The President of Turkmenistan expressed confidence that the partnership with Japan will develop successfully on a mutually beneficial basis.


The President of Turkmenistan sent his condolences to the President of Portugal

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed his condolences to President of the Portuguese Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in connection with the tragedy in Lisbon, which resulted in numerous casualties and injuries. On behalf of the people and government of Turkmenistan, as well as on his own behalf, the Head of State conveyed his sincere sympathy and support to the families of the victims and those affected, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.


Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a number of documents

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has signed a series of decrees aimed at improving the national labour market and developing the digital economy. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. According to one of the documents, the ‘Concept for the Development of the Labour Market of Turkmenistan until 2030’ and the Action Plan for its implementation have been approved. Ministries, industry departments, as well as the governors of the velayats and the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag have been instructed to ensure the implementation of the tasks set out in the concept. Another decree defines measures for the further development of the digital economy. The Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan has been appointed as the authorised body for electronic documents, document management, digital services and the functioning of the e-government system. Within a month, the ministry must prepare and submit to the Cabinet of Ministers proposals for amendments and additions to the current legislation arising from this resolution.


Ashgabat sends humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in Afghanistan

Humanitarian aid was sent from Ashgabat to Kabul for the people of Afghanistan affected by the earthquake. The decision to provide assistance was made by order of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, according to the state news agency TDH. The shipment included food, clothing, textiles and essential goods. The aid was provided by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship. A ceremony to hand over the humanitarian aid was held in Kabul, where representatives of the Afghan side expressed their gratitude to the Turkmen leadership and people for their support. This action was yet another confirmation of Turkmenistan's commitment to the principles of humanism, good neighbourliness and mutual assistance, as well as to strengthening ties between the two countries.
