Turkmenbashi International Sea Port has made progress in digital technologies

On 8 October, Seyitguly Bayseyidov, Head of the Turkmenbashi International Sea Port, took part in a meeting of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Committee on sustainable trade and transport. This was reported by the press service of the Turkmen diplomatic mission. During his speech, S. Bayseyidov highlighted Turkmenistan's strategy for modernising its transport system, digitalisation and clean energy integration, as well as the country's role as an important transit hub in the Caspian region. Particular attention was paid to the ‘Promoting Green Ports’ project, under which the Turkmenbashi port became the first in the Eastern Caspian to receive the international ‘EcoPort’ certificate for energy efficiency, wastewater treatment and biodiversity conservation. This achievement supports Turkmenistan's goals within the framework of the decisions of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries to create environmentally friendly and intelligent transport systems for 2024-2034. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, the World Bank, the International Transport Forum, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and OSCE delegates. Sustainable transport, digitalisation of logistics and cooperation between ports were discussed. S. Bayseyidov also held a meeting with the OSCE Coordinator for Economic and Environmental Issues, Bakyt Dzhusupov, discussing further initiatives on ‘green’ logistics and sustainable transport corridors for 2026. Turkmenistan's active participation confirmed its commitment to regional partnership and sustainable interconnectivity.

On 8 October, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the OSCE, Hemra Amannazarov, held a meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO), Robert Floyd. This was reported by the press service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria. Robert Floyd warmly recalled his visit to Ashgabat and his meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in July 2024, noting the country's contribution to strengthening peace and security. The Turkmen delegation reaffirmed its commitment to nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and recalled the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. The parties discussed preparations for the 30th anniversary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, which will be held in 2026, and expressed their readiness to jointly mark this date. Issues related to the modernisation of the PS44 seismic station located in Turkmenistan were also considered. The meeting confirmed the strengthening of the partnership between Turkmenistan and the CTBTO and their shared commitment to the goals of peace and global security.


Turkmenistan and Ethiopia noted the strengthening of bilateral relations

On 9 October, Jamal Beker Abdulla, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Pakistan and Turkmenistan, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Pakistan, paid a farewell visit to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Islamabad. The Head of the Ethiopian diplomatic mission met with Atajan Movlamov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who thanked his colleague for his cooperation and contribution to the development of bilateral relations. Geneva became the venue for Turkmenistan's forum on neutrality issues

An international forum organised by the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan to the United Nations, in conjunction with the Geneva Centre for Neutrality and the Greater Caspian Association, was held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. This was reported by the IIC. More than 300 diplomats, politicians, economists and experts took part in the event to discuss the role of neutrality in contemporary global challenges. Tatyana Valovaya, Director-General of the UN Office in Geneva, delivered a welcoming speech. The forum programme included three sessions, during which diplomatic stability, the investment climate, artificial intelligence regulation and digital security were discussed. The forum concluded with closing remarks and an informal reception, allowing participants to exchange experiences and strengthen professional contacts. Experts emphasised the growing importance of neutrality as a tool for development, dialogue and trust in the 21st century.


New Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ethiopia discussed prospects for bilateral relations

Turkmenistan calls on CIS countries to establish Caspian logistics hub

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in Dushanbe, emphasised the importance of active participation by the Commonwealth countries in the creation of a Caspian logistics hub. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The Head of State recalled that the issue of developing the Caspian direction had previously been raised at the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. The conference noted that the transit and logistics potential of the Caspian region is becoming increasingly important internationally. ‘It is through the Caspian region that the main vertical and horizontal Eurasian transport routes will pass, from the Asia-Pacific region to Europe and the Middle East, from Russia to the South, to Iran, India and the Gulf countries. It is necessary for the Commonwealth countries to participate fully in the formation of the Caspian logistics hub, to establish and strengthen their positions in this project on a mutually beneficial and coordinated basis,’ said Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The President of Turkmenistan also noted that Ashgabat is ready to contribute to the development of this initiative and discuss with partners practical issues of using Turkmenistan's port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea in the interests of mutual cooperation.

Following the meeting, a plan for multi-level inter-ministerial consultations within the CIS for 2026 was approved. The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the OSCE, Hemra Amannazarov, emphasised Turkmenistan's commitment to cooperation with the OSCE and its institutions. During his speech, he noted the country's achievements in the field of human rights, social policy and humanism. In particular, on 26 September, in honour of the 34th anniversary of independence, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov pardoned 225 convicts, and 142 foreigners received residence permits. Turkmenistan also completed the settlement of all cases of statelessness on its territory, which was confirmed by the UNHCR and cemented the country's leadership in the global #IBelong campaign. In addition, Turkmenistan's initiative on the International Day of Multilingual Diplomacy at the 80th session of the UN highlighted its commitment to intercultural dialogue and respect for cultural diversity. The country expressed its readiness to continue cooperating with the OSCE and other international institutions to promote human rights, democracy and the rule of law.

Turkmenistan and the UAE expand trade ties

A delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, under the headship of its Chairman Mergen Gurdov, took part in the second Turkmenistan-UAE Business Forum, which was held at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The forum was organised jointly with the SCCI with the support of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the UAE and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the UAE. Representatives of government agencies and the private sector of both countries took part in the forum. M. Gurdov noted that dialogue at a high political level contributes to the active development of trade and economic ties. He emphasised Turkmenistan's desire to diversify its economy and attract foreign investment. SCCI Chairman Abdallah Sultan Al Owais expressed his readiness to support Turkmen business. The forum presented investment opportunities in the UAE, while Turkmen entrepreneurs showcased projects in industry, agriculture, energy and logistics. An exhibition of Turkmen goods was held, ranging from food products and textiles to building materials, and bilateral meetings between business representatives of the two countries were held. The Turkmen delegation also visited Sharjah's permanent industrial exhibition, learning about the activities of local enterprises and current trends in the development of the UAE's manufacturing sector.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS, held in Dushanbe and chaired by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. In his speech, the Head of State emphasised the importance of the CIS as an effective platform for equal dialogue and joint decision-making on pressing issues. Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan, adhering to the principle of neutrality, actively participates in economic, transport and logistics, energy and humanitarian cooperation within the Commonwealth. The Head of State emphasised the importance of implementing the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030, expanding the North-South and East-West transport corridors, and the participation of countries in the region in the formation of the Caspian logistics hub. The President of Turkmenistan paid particular attention to the development of innovative and scientific-technical cooperation, as well as the strengthening of cultural and educational ties. The President of Turkmenistan announced his country's readiness to assume the chairmanship of the CIS in 2026 and promised that a concept for the chairmanship aimed at further strengthening cooperation between the Commonwealth countries would be presented in the near future. During the summit, the results of the CIS's work over the year were summarised, priorities for the next period were identified, and a number of documents were signed. Concluding his visit, Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked the host side for its hospitality and reaffirmed Turkmenistan's commitment to strengthening mutually beneficial relations within the CIS.
