A seminar dedicated to the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. This was reported by the press office of the institute. The event took place on 4 July 2026 at the initiative of the ‘Young Economists’ scientific club at the Department of International Economic Relations. Students from the Faculty of International Economic Relations took part. The seminar was led by B. Atayev, a lecturer at the Department of International Economic Relations. Participants discussed regional projects within the framework of SPECA and their significance for the development of transport and logistics, trade and energy. Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan’s initiatives to strengthen regional economic cooperation and implement the country’s peace-oriented economic strategy. During the meeting, students received answers to their questions.
On May 7, a ceremonial event dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the birth of the Indian poet and philosopher Rabindranath Tagore was held at the Magtymguly Pyragy Cultural and Park Complex in Ashgabat. The event was attended by representatives of the Embassy of India in Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, public figures, and students of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Döwletmämmet Azady, who are studying Hindi. The complex is located in the foothills of the Kopetdag mountains. A monument to Rabindranath Tagore has been installed in the Alley of Distinguished Figures. The program included yoga performances, musical and vocal presentations, as well as recitations of Tagore’s poetry in Hindi. Students from the Turkmen university also recited his works from memory. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Turkmenistan, Bandaru Wilsonbabu, emphasized the significance of the poet’s humanistic ideas and his contribution to the development of universal values. He also highlighted the role of the monument in the park as a symbol of friendship between the two countries. The Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan, G. Myradaliyev, noted that Tagore’s legacy contributes to strengthening cultural ties between Turkmenistan and India. According to him, the poet’s works are studied in Turkmen universities and are regarded as an important element of humanitarian cooperation. Rabindranath Tagore was a poet, writer, philosopher, composer, and educator. In 1913, he became the first non-European Nobel Prize laureate in Literature for his collection Gitanjali.
Turkmen schoolchildren achieved significant success at the ‘First Global Challenge 2025’ International Robotics Competition, held in Panama from 29 October to 1 November. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The ‘Oguzrobot’ team won a first-degree diploma in the ‘Skills Challenge’ category, which assesses the ability of robots to perform autonomous tasks. Their robot completed a set of tasks in 50 seconds, scoring 54.6 points. The teams from Armenia and China took second and third place. More than 970 young engineers from 194 countries participated in the competition. The Turkmen team consisted of students from Specialised School No. 97 in Ashgabat: Chyryev Ismayyl, Gylychmuhammedov Emirhan, Cholukov Aznavur, Gulov Shirmuhammet and Orazgeldiyev Gurbangeldi. Under the guidance of Myrat Sahetguliyev, they trained at the ‘Kämil bilim’ training centre. The team's success reflects the state's focus on developing national education in line with international standards and supporting the comprehensive development of young people.
